About the project

Outreach Beyond Radhanagari

With an outlook to creating a larger impact and making use of it's decades of Primary Care experience, RSGVP has recently tied up with other NGOs and government bodies to bring healthcare awareness and Primary Care to other parts of Maharashtra. The aim is to improve the health of the general population by making a difference in the health of children at the primary care level. Dental camps, health camps and vaccinations have been conducted at many schools in various parts of Maharashtra such as Palghar district, Dharavi and even South Mumbai.

Dental Camps

RSGVP and Mahipaal Foundation conducted three dental camps on every Thursday of September for Ashram school children in the Vikramgad, Palghar district. This initiative was undertaken because of the limited availability of dental care for local villagers and school children. This concluded the Phase 1 activity. We arranged 8 to 9 dentists to perform dental screenings and to demonstrate proper oral hygiene techniques to the children. For logistics and transportation of the dentists, we arranged a 12-seater Tempo Traveller vehicle. The vehicle provided a return trip service from Borivali station to Vikramgad. We also arranged a small dental kit for the children.

The dental camp proposal was given to the respective and concerned Ashram school principals. The dates for the camps were fixed after receiving their approvals. After the camps concluded, a letter of thanks was presented by the respective school principals to RSGVP and Mahipaal Foundation.

Cervical Cancer Vaccination Drive

Through the offices of the local BMC corporator in Mumbai, Mrs. Harshita Narvekar, a cervical cancer vaccination drive was conducted at the local BMC school. The students and their parents were educated on the benefits of giving the vaccine after which the vaccination was succesfully carried out in conjuction with Healthspring.
